Throughout my lifetime I’ve done a lot of wrong but also a lot of good. I’ve made mistakes, but I have one that is my favorite. It’s a simple one, but it made me change the way I think, even if it was just slightly. It all started on a pleasant Saturday afternoon, backtrack six years ago.
Six years ago I never would’ve thought that my way of thinking was going to change forever. See on this Saturday afternoon, six years ago, I was sitting on the couch. My mom’s friend was making me lunch, and I watching what any ordinarily nine year old would watch, “Tom and Jerry”. My mom’s friend called me by saying
“Brandon! Lunch is ready!” she shouted because she likes to shout.
"I responded by saying “Okay Betty be there in a second, the show is almost over”
“Watch the show later, your food is getting cold” she madly responded.
“No! It’s almost over! Hold Up!” I said raising my voice slightly.
She angrily screamed “Brandon Bernal Gomez! Turn that TV off now!”
I shouted back “No!” while I threw the controller, and the TV switched the History Channel. I then proceeded to march into my room, and I angrily just went to sleep. I woke up around four hours later, at the sound of my father knocking at my door. He angrily told me to tell Betty sorry, and I did. Next he told me to sit down and for the rest of the week, I was going to watch the History Channel, and he was going to hide the remote.
You actions are always going to have consequences, sometimes good and sometimes bad, choose what you do wisely” he told me.
I never forgot those words, and I still have them up in
my brain, whispering to me as I’m about to make my next move in life. As for
the History Channel, I learned many things and I discovered one of my favorite
quotes of all time. I also changed my mind from wanting to be an FBI Agent, to
something more beneficial to myself. With that my Saturday came to a conclusion
and I went to sleep, while I dreamed about those words.
